Bangkok, Thailand – Sahathai Terminal, Thailand’s leading barge terminal and coastal shipping service provider, continues to grow and expand its network thanks to its strong business foundation and network, as well as its service integrity. Sahathai Terminal is a branch of its parent company, Sahathai Steel Pipe Co., Ltd, one of Thailand’s largest steel pipe exporters for the last 47 years. Since its inception in 2007, Sahathai Terminal has been steadily developing its business and services, and has become Thailand’s leading barge terminal.

Sahathai Terminal’s services include international and domestic coastal terminal service, container shipment through barges and trucks, stuffing, stripping, bonded warehouse, general warehouse, container maintenance and repair, a free zone, and many other value-added services, like an on-site Customs House to service clients in Customs clearance. This means the terminal is ready and able to handle almost any need from their varied group of customers. Furthermore, Sahathai Terminal is perfectly located next to the Chao Phraya River, which allows easy and convenient access from the terminal to the heart of Bangkok, as well as other neighboring provinces.

Sahathai have begun expanding their range of services to cover more needs, and to provide convenient transportation for both shipping lines and exporters. Beyond its complete range of services and determination to serve its clients with international standards; Sahathai Terminal’s core principles emphasize service integrity. A point reiterated by Mrs. Sauwakun Karuchit, Sahathai Terminal’s Chief Executive Officer, service integrity has always been at the heart of the terminal’s principles. Mrs. Sauwakun firmly believes that integrity is the most vital part of any business deal with partners and clients. Integrity and transparency have always been the foundation of Sahathai Terminal in building its business and is truly a pillar of any strong alliance and partnership.

Building Partnerships

In 2015, Sahathai Terminal expanded its business by partnering with Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), Japan’s largest ocean liner, and jointly established Bangkok Barge Terminal (BBT) for container transportation via barges. The service aims to answer the growing demand for container transportation between Bangkok’s metropolitan area and Laem Chabang Port. The decision to form this partnership was built upon Sahathai Terminal’s long-standing alliance with MOL, and their shared vision to offer Thailand with alternatives for transportation services to meet the country’s continuous growth. Both companies also agree that barge container transportation causes less environmental impact than trucking, and so the partnership was agreed upon.

Another display of Sahathai Terminal’s strong alliance with international organizations is the partnership with Medlog, a subsidiary of Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). The two companies formed a new entity known as Bangkok Barge Services (BBS), a domestic container barge transportation service between Laem Chabang Port and other coastal ports in Bangkok. Launched at the end of 2016, BBS is Sahathai Terminal’s latest milestone and verifies their ability to form strong alliances with international partners. This is because Sahathai Terminal believes that the best way to compete in the international arena is to have international alliances that strengthen each party’s business.

Future Goals

Sahathai Terminal has laid the foundation for a bright future and has the vision to perpetually move forward with their business goals. Forming strong and mutually beneficial alliances is one of the many ways Sahathai Terminal is planning on growing its business in the long run. 2017 will be another big step for the terminal as it expands its container depot and yard to fit more containers, as well as enhance its capacity to operate more efficiently. The next milestone on the horizon for Sahathai Terminal will be the initial public offering of the terminal’s stock to further fortify its business strengths. Sahathai Terminal has proven their focus is aimed squarely on progress and securing strong business growth. With their strong foundation, they are looking ready to strive for even more continued success in the very near future.
